Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a System Development Engineer to lead integration, simulation, and test of space-borne phased array systems for high-speed internet capabilities. You will collaborate across disciplines to improve test speed, data collection, and root-cause analysis, aligning results with end-to-end system simulations.

Responsibilities include validating phased array subsystems, interfacing RF equipment, and driving new software features for phased array metrics in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Coursework in digital communication theory, digital signal processing, RF/Microwave Engineering, Antennas and EM theory.
  • Experience in DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, line-up analysis, RF system design.
  • Coding and scripting with Matlab/Python/C++.
  • Experience with simulation tools SystemVue, ADS or LabVIEW; Linux/Unix deployment.

  • Measure, validate, and perform root cause analysis on phased array systems and sub-systems.
  • Interface with standard RF equipment to enable automation and efficient data collection.
  • Create/modify software features to test metrics like EIRP, EVM, and G/T.
  • Coordinate with Leo software team to drive new product requirements from RF test needs.
  • Perform end-to-end modeling, simulation, and analysis of digital phased array systems.

As a System Development Engineer, you will be responsible for integration, simulation, and test of state‑of‑the‑art space borne phased array systems. You will work internally and cross-functionally with a multi-disciplinary team to improve test speed and data collection, perform root cause analysis, and correlate test data with end-to-end system level simulations.

Key job responsibilities

Export Control Requirement

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Coursework in digital communication theory, digital signal processing, RF/Microwave Engineering, Antennas and Electromagnetic theory
  • Experience in DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, line-up analysis, RF system design
  • Coding and scripting skills with demonstrated experience in Matlab/Python/C++
  • Experience with simulation tools such such as SystemVue, ADS or LabView
  • Experience deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of work experience or PhD with 2+ years of experience
  • Experience working with phased arrays, calibration and antenna measurement
  • Experience with one of the mainstream antenna simulation tools (CST/HFSS)
