Job summary

Leidos seeks an Alternate McMurdo Winter Site Manager to deploy to McMurdo Station, Antarctica for 7-8 months and serve as senior site lead when the Primary Winter Site Manager cannot deploy.

This role requires US citizenship, Public Trust clearance, and completion of NSF medical and dental exams. Deployment is expected February through October, with reporting to the McMurdo Area Manager and coordination with NSF/ASC leadership on safety and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and 10+ years of professional experience.
• Leadership experience must include the demonstrated ability to work with and independently manage a diverse, skilled workforce.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage conflict resolution and solve operational & logistics issues.

Responsibilities

• Deploys to McMurdo Station, Antarctica for the Austral Winter season.
• Reports to the McMurdo Area Manager; may serve as Acting Area Manager as needed.
• Ensures the Annual Program Plan and other station activities are completed as planned; communicates concerns as needed.
• Is available 24/7 while deployed to respond to station emergencies and incidents.
• Oversees safety culture, compliance with Antarctic treaties, and coordination with NSF/ASC leadership.
