Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the Antarctic Support Contract at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. This is a seasonal, deployment position for austral summer (Oct 2026–Feb 2027) with potential for the winter season as well.

Candidates must have a BS in safety/related field, 5+ years in safety program management, and the ability to work in extreme weather. US citizenship and eligibility for a Public Trust clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BS in safety sciences or related field
• 5+ years in safety program management and regulatory compliance
• Field experience with remote camp logistics and heavy industrial environments
• Ability to adapt to extreme weather conditions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure station, field and peripheral operations meet safety and health program requirements.
• Integrate risk management and use of standards across ASC operations.
• Act with little supervision in field environments.
• Serve as on-site safety and health POC for ASC operations.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies and tools for field camps.
• Ensure safety plans align with Leidos, ASC, and NSF requirements.
• Attend meetings to understand upcoming projects and operations.
• Conduct routine site visits and safety assessments.
• Provide guidance to directors and leadership on safety and risk matters.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Perform industrial hygiene surveys and document findings with appropriate instrumentation.
• Provide technical reports on improvement strategies to H&S Manager.
• Assist EHS team with analysis and project completion.
