Overview

The Annuity Product Risk Director role will join the ERM team, reporting to the Head of Model and Product Risk. This role will support the application of Talcott’s core risk management and control processes to Talcott’s new Retail platform. As such, the successful candidate is closely involved with Talcott professionals dedicated to our Retail platform and will work with ERM Framework owners (Model Risk, Operational Risk, Insurance Risk, Financial Risk) to ensure that these frameworks are applied thoughtfully and risks arising from the Retail business are covered comprehensively. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Annuity Products and can understand Product Features and their associated risks at a detailed level – but can also analyze adjacent risks such as Legal Risk, Client Suitability, Operational Risks in IT & Operations. This role is currently an individual contributor role.

Primary Responsibilities

Specifically, the role will lead the risk oversight around Talcott’s Retail effort, including (but not limited to)

• Review of Product Design, Analysis of risks arising from Product Features
• Review of Sales & Distribution Processes and Risks arising from those processes
• Gaining understanding of IT architecture, analysis of risks inherent in the infrastructure including Cyber, Data Privacy, reliance of critical vendors
• Reviewing analysis of Sales Trends and implications for risk profile
• Recommend evolutions of Talcott’s risk frameworks in order to ensure comprehensive coverage of Retail risks
  
  

In those tasks, the successful candidate will interact closely with all Senior ERM leaders across Talcott.

Qualifications

• Hands-On knowledge of Annuity Products, including Fixed Indexed Annuities and MYGAs
• Experience with Retail Annuities gained from Annuity Companies, Distribution, Consulting or Regulatory Agencies a strong plus
• Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity
• Actuarial designation a strong plus
• Experience in Fixed Income Assets a plus
• Strong oral and written communication skills to explain emerging issues to key internal stakeholders including management
• Strong project management skills
• Fluency in Productivity Software (Excel etc…)
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
