Job summary

NatureServe is seeking an Annual Fund & Database Manager to grow annual philanthropic support, manage donor data, and deliver comprehensive reporting. About the role

The Annual Fund & Database Manager (AFDM) plays a crucial role in ensuring NatureServe’s financial sustainability by developing and executing a robust strategy to grow annual philanthropic support. This position manages every aspect of the annual giving program including planning, segmentation, execution, and stewardship, while also serving as the lead administrator for donor data, systems, and reporting.

Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Major Gifts, the AFDM will design and implement an integrated annual giving and donor communications plan that deepens engagement with core ($1–$149) and mid-level ($150–$500) donors, expands the donor pipeline, and advances NatureServe’s mission. This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented fundraiser who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings both creativity and analytical rigor.

What you'll do

The key responsibilities for theAFDMpositioninclude, but are not limited to:

Annual Fund Strategy & Execution

• Develop and implement short-, mid-, and long-term strategies for core and mid-level donor segments that are data-driven, relationship-based, and highly segmented.
• Lead the planning and execution of 3–4 annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and digital fundraising.
• Manage donor acquisition strategies to build a strong and growing donor pipeline
• Identify major gift prospects to the Major Gifts Director and CAO, and conduct prospect research
• Provide thoughtful stewardship toretainand engage core, mid-level, recurring, and lapsed donors.
• Create compelling donor-centered content for appeals, stewardship, and campaign communications.

Donor Data & Systems Management

• Serve as the primary administrator for Salesforce NPSP, ensuring excellent data hygiene, workflow configuration, and system optimization for the Philanthropy team.
• Process gifts,acknowledgementsand tax receipts accurately and promptly.
• Maintain andoptimizeMailchimp and Salesforce integrations for targeted communications.
• Maintain and oversee Fundraise Up platform and online contribution workflows in Salesforce.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, dashboards, KPIs, and campaign insights.
• Partner with the Finance team for monthly reconciliation of contributed revenue.
• Collaborate closely with the Communications & Marketing team to ensuretimelydevelopment of campaign assets.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, includingmailhouses, graphic designers, and print shops.
• Oversee content and promotion for “other ways to give” such as stock gifts, Qualified Charitable Distributions, cryptocurrency, and employer matching gifts.
• Coordinate with third-party fundraising partners to support campaign goals.
• Utilize JIRA project management software to track and complete tasks across Philanthropy and Communications.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–5 years of experience in annual fund management and philanthropic operations.
• Advanced proficiency with Salesforce NPSP .
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (writing samples required).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across teams.
• Experience with donor segmentation, stewardship, and campaign execution using digital technologies.

Preferred

• Experience in conservation or nonprofit environments.

The pay range for this role is:

70,000 - 75,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
