Job summary

Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) seeks a qualified college student for the Anjeli Jana Memorial Internship for Fall 2026–Spring 2027. The intern will work closely with the Programs Manager, Development Manager, and Executive Director, as well as other A4 staff, in the planning and execution of A4’s public programs, constituent communications, and outreach.

Position Description:
Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) seeks a qualified college or university student for the Anjeli Jana Memorial Internship for Fall 2026-Spring 2027. The intern will work closely with the Programs Manager, Development Manager, and Executive Director, as well as other A4 staff, in the planning and execution of A4’s public programs, constituent communications, and outreach. Please note that students not enrolled in a college/university program (such as students taking a gap year or who have recently graduated) are not eligible to apply.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated interest in the arts, the Asian American community, and/or the mission of the organization
• Organized and self-motivated
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A clear and convincing writer
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and Canva. Familiarity with CRMs such as Neon is a plus
• Experience with Adobe creative suite is a plus

Responsibilities and duties may include:
E-mail outreach to various artists and constituents on behalf of A4, data tracking and research, volunteer coordination, and assisting with programmatic activities. Depending on the interest and capacity of the intern, they may also be involved with assisting in fundraising initiatives and operations within A4.

Learning Outcomes:
The intern will have the opportunity to develop tangible skills within the field of arts administration at a long-standing artist support nonprofit. The intern will gain experience in the areas of public programs development and production, professional outreach, advocacy, and fundraising.

Our office space has all-gender restrooms. The building has elevators and is wheelchair-accessible. We will make other accommodations specific to the intern’s individual needs. The A4 office is dog-friendly.

Requirements

Hours and other requirements:
A4 is a hybrid workplace. The A4 team works from 10 am to 6 pm from Monday through Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we are in person at our Manhattan office. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we are remote. The intern should plan to use their own personal laptop for this work. The intern should expect to work part-time, roughly between 10 to 15 hours a week.

Compensation:
The intern will be paid at a rate of $20 for a maximum of 275 hours divided between Fall and Spring semesters.

About the Anjeli Jana Memorial Internship:
Anjeli Jana, the daughter of two immigrant physicians from India and the Philippines, lived the dream of many AAPI artists within the A4 community: pursuing the arts full time. She did so in a variety of fields: acting, music, and documentary film. A graduate of San Francisco State University and the American Conservatory Theater, Anjeli was the lead of an all-girl band that played numerous venues in the Bay Area. After relocating to Los Angeles she wrote about culture for LA Splash magazine, and entered in and won numerous beauty pageants. While living in LA, Anjeli was accepted to Santa Monica College, from which she graduated with honors with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Business Applications.

She wrote, produced, directed, scored, and starred in a short film, “My Marina,” about her neighborhood, Marina del Rey. The film won numerous international awards not only for the writing, but also for the original song, “Stranger Star.”

This internship is funded by the Jana-MacAdam family to honor Anjeli’s life. It provides a college/university student of Asian-American descent to work with A4 for an entire school year, so that the student may help support, and learn from, AAPI artists like Anjeli who courageously pursue their creative passion and build a life devoted to the arts.
