Job summary

Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) seeks a compassionate team member to join the Community Resource and Behavior team. You will help ensure animal well-being by conducting intakes, behavior assessments, and training, while applying fear-free handling practices and coordinating with other shelter departments.

You will work with dogs and cats, support enrichment, supervise playgroups, document notes clearly, and provide excellent customer service to community members seeking assistance for animals.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in animal welfare or veterinary services is preferred.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Excellent communication with diverse community members.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support scheduling community requests for animals and facilitate intakes.
• Work hands-on with dogs and cats, conducting health and behavior assessments.
• Provide support to staff, volunteers, and community members seeking resources.
• Facilitate behavior training and modification sessions with CRB team and volunteers.
• Record detailed information about animals during intake exams, assessments, and training.
• Follow fear-free handling practices during intake exams, behavior sessions, and vaccines.
• Collaborate to support enrichment and shelter pathways.
• Support team with dog tests, playgroups, and off-site outings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
