Job summary

Collier County Government seeks an Animal Control Officer to protect animals and people. You’ll respond to emergencies, enforce laws, and educate the public on responsible pet ownership.

You’ll also handle cruelty investigations, livestock, and abandoned animal intake with humane transport. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver’s license, and state certifications in Animal Control and Euthanasia Injection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with clean driving record.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to write complete and detailed reports.
• Comfort handling all types of animals.

Responsibilities

• Patrol neighborhoods and respond to calls about stray, injured, abused, or dangerous animals.
• Investigate animal bites, welfare complaints, and violations of animal control laws.
• Capture and transport animals humanely.
• Provide basic medical care or emergency transport for injured animals.
• Enforce licensing, vaccination, and permitting regulations.
• Educate the community on animal safety, adoption, ordinances, and pet care.
• Assist with public events, emergencies, and disaster preparedness for animals.
• Maintain accurate records in the database system.
