Job summary

The City of Springfield's Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead daily shelter activities and ensure humane care for all animals in custody.

You will oversee programs, personnel, budgeting, and inter-department collaboration, reporting to the Executive Director, and supervise 175+ volunteers. You should bring a BA/BS in animal science or related field with supervisory experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in

Qualifications

• BA/BS in animal science or related field with four years of supervisory experience.
• Experience as an animal care technician/supervisor; eight years education/experience equivalent.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Center’s activities.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise staff.
• Supervise 175+ volunteers.
• Ensure humane animal care; manage disease control.
• Collaborate with outside agencies to improve live release rate.
