Job summary

The City of Lancaster is seeking an Animal Services Officer to enforce city and state animal control laws and promote responsible pet ownership. You will respond to complaints, investigate cruelty, handle stray animals, and ensure compliance with ordinances.

You will also assist with shelter operations, maintain records, and educate the public on animal safety and welfare. Must have a Basic Animal Control Officer certification (TX) and a valid Class C license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or an equivalent combination of education and related experience or training.
• Must possess a Basic Animal Control Officer certification through the Texas Department of Health.
• Valid Class C Driver's License required.
• Ability to safely handle a variety of animals, including stray or aggressive animals.
• Ability to investigate animal-related complaints and enforce applicable ordinances.
• Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work in environments involving loud noises, strong odors, and potentially hazardous substances.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds.
