Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Worcester, MA is hiring a Research Technician I to collect and record data with minimal supervision, handle and restrain animals, monitor health, and perform basic formulation procedures under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (B.S. preferred in life sciences) and roughly 6 months of related experience. The pay starts at $24.50/hour with standard full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Must have basic laboratory skills and ability to follow study protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-life technical procedures (e.g., clipping, handling, binding, removals, body weight, dosing).
• Administer test substances by basic methods (e.g., oral gavage).
• Input, print and edit computer entries (e.g., life numbers, body weights, food consumption).
• Under supervision may act as lead/primary technician on basic studies.
• Observe animals for health and well-being.
• Collect and record research data and biological specimens per GLPs and SOPs.
• Read basic study protocols and extract pertinent information.
• Review documentation for quality control.
• Retrieve and view SOPs using database.
• Handle, restrain, and care for laboratory animals.
• Perform study prep activities (tube labeling, room setup).
• Maintain clean work areas.
• Receive animals and perform basic formulation procedures.
