Job Description

The Animal Husbandry Assistant Operations Manager supervises a team of 20 full-time husbandry lab technicians and manages daily husbandry operations, including human resources responsibilities, training, supplies, inventory, facility inspections, and metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Train new employees and visiting students. Evaluate personnel requirements, conduct training, evaluate performance, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Maintain husbandry equipment and service contracts.
  • Manage husbandry supplies and inventory across all facilities, including offsite storage.
  • Monitor work processes, policies, and procedures for efficiency; develop and implement new policies and protocols.
  • Prepare metrics reports and records as required.
  • Participate in developing the husbandry budget.
  • Maintain and review animal records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or delegated.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree (preferred) or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 5+ years experience in a lab animal facility.
  • Certification by the American Association of Lab Animal Science (AALAS) at the LATG level required.
  • Relevant certifications such as Veterinary Technology or CMAR are preferred.
