Job summary

Madison County Government in Edwardsville, IL, seeks an Animal Control Officer to apprehend, rescue and control sick, injured, or stray animals within the county. You will investigate ordinance violations and handle bite cases, working with Sheriff, ISP and township officials as needed.

You must have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and obtain a Certified Euthanasia Technician license. Duties include public liaison, field patrols, arranging impounds, and after-hours on-call

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Certified Euthanasia Technician license issued by the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Conducts the apprehension, rescue and control of sick, injured, at-large or abandoned animals within Madison County.
• Investigates ordinance or statutory violations involving animals and issues warnings and tickets as appropriate.
• Liaises with the public and other agencies, answers inquiries about animal laws and safety, and assists in impoundment and adoption processes.
