Job summary

Mt. Lebanon seeks an Animal Control Officer to enforce animal welfare laws within the Mt. Lebanon community and participating areas.

The role involves responding to animal control requests, investigating violations, and coordinating with veterinary services for animal health issues. The officer may handle humane euthanasia in extreme cases, rescue animals, and prepare detailed reports. A valid PA driver’s license and high school diploma are required, with overtime eligibility and non-exempt

Qualifications

• Knowledge of physical and behavioral characteristics of common dog and cat breeds.
• Ability to use animal control equipment and restraints safely.
• Ability to testify in court and prosecute cases as the citing officer.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for animal control service in Mt. Lebanon and participating communities.
• Investigate violations and issue warnings or citations; testify in court as needed.
• Rescue/capture/assist with animals in dangerous situations; transport to shelter or euthanasia when required.
• Maintain records and reports of activities and shelter operations.
