Qualifications

• Requires valid driver license at date of hire and maintenance thereafter.
• Must complete Florida-approved Euthanasia Technician certification within six months.
• Must complete Florida Animal Control Association Officer Certification within six months.
• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year related experience or suitable combination.

Responsibilities

• Responds to complaints and picks up stray animals, placing them in the shelter or quarantine as needed.
• Responds to complaints and acts as intermediary in disputes about animal problems.
• Patrols areas for stray dogs or cats and checks valid rabies tags.
• Advises owners of county regulations and issues citations for violations.
• Answers calls and relays field complaints from the public regarding animal problems.
• Performs technical and clerical duties supporting kennel and field operations.
• Investigates animal bites, locates animals and owners for appropriate action.
• Investigates complaints of cruelty and violations; collects evidence for court cases.
