Job description

This position will supervise the daily operations of providing for the health and welfare of animals at Susan Farm located within Suson Park.

The typical starting salary range is between $41,600.00 - $49,920.00 hourly, depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and budgetary considerations. We offer a competitive benefits package and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy. For more details, visit this link.

Essential Function Examples
  1. Oversee daily animal operations of staff, including generating work schedules, maintaining cleanliness and health records, identifying animals requiring medical attention, implementing policies, and ensuring procedures comply with regulations.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of daily operations to ensure outcomes meet goals.
  3. Administer animal breeding and reproduction programs.
  4. Adapt practices to ensure the most current approaches to animal health and welfare are implemented.
  5. Oversee animal housing, enclosures, supplies, pastures, fencing, including animal sale and transport.
  6. Provide direct animal caregiving support services as needed.

Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum of six years of experience in animal care, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

Selection and Appointment

A selection committee will evaluate applicants based on recent and relevant education and experience, answers to supplemental questions, references, and other pertinent information. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited for interviews, which will account for 100% of the final grade. Candidates must score at least 70 to be eligible for appointment. After interviews, top candidates will be notified via email to complete a Conviction Questionnaire within 3 days. The top five candidates will be certified to the Department Director for final decision.

All conditional offers are contingent upon passing a drug screening at the County’s expense.
