Job Profile Title: Technician Assistant, Animal Laboratory

Job Description Summary: ULAR provides essential 24/7 services. Positions are "essential"; work may be required during campus suspensions or emergencies, including weekends and overtime. Responsibilities include caring for research animals, maintaining facilities, assisting scientists, and documenting tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize animal cages and equipment using autoclaves and sanitation equipment.
  • Feed, water, change cages, and report health or environmental issues; perform rodent euthanasia.
  • Receive and house animals; handle supplies.
  • Assist scientists with animal care problems; provide basic training on handling animals.
  • Document completed tasks; report issues to supervisors or veterinary staff.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 0-1 year related experience or equivalent.
  • For Tech Assist: Additional one year lab animal experience or AALAS ALAT certification required; knowledge of handling techniques necessary.

All positions require: Ability to read, write, and understand English; follow instructions; work as part of a team; lift 50 lbs; stand for long periods; pass pre-employment physical; work weekends/holidays/overtime; pass FBI background check; computer skills are a plus.

Salary Range

$19.25 - $24.00/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
