Job summary

City of Irving, TX is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician for the Police / Animal Services department. You will care for animals, maintain shelter facilities, and assist the public with adoptions and registrations. The role requires physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and excellent customer service.

No prior experience is required, but bilingual English/Spanish is beneficial. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and euthanasia certification must be obtained

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience needed; relevant experience a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish beneficial.
• Must obtain euthanasia certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Clean animal enclosures and maintain shelter facilities, grounds, and incinerator.
• Care for, feed, restrain and monitor animals; vaccinate, microchip, and draw blood for health checks.
• Answer phones and assist customers in person and by email; coordinate with rescue groups.
• Process adoptions, transfers, reclaim, and city registrations; maintain records.
