Job summary

eGenesis is seeking an Animal Care Technician to provide animal care and maintain housing facilities in accordance with SOPs. You will assist in all animal-related projects and collaborate with Farm Operations to meet company standards, including weekend rotating shifts.

Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, observing animals, assisting in surgeries prep with Vet Staff, maintaining health records, and adhering to biosafety and safety rules.

Qualifications

• 0-3+ years of hands-on livestock handling or relevant animal research experience.
• Highschool diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree or Masters in relevant animal science field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Feeding and cleaning of all animals and housing facilities.
• Closely observe animals when working with them and report any unusual conditions immediately to Vet Staff/Direct Supervisor.
• Assist in safe animal handling and movements.
• Maintain high standard of animal care and welfare.
• Maintenance of animal related equipment and facilities.
• Responsible for maintaining all aspects relative to research animal care, health, and treatment.
• Follow instructions and recommendations for animal treatments in accordance with on-site Vet Staff direction.
• Support Vet Staff with the preparation of animals undergoing surgeries.
• Responsible for maintaining and keeping health and herd management records.
• Perform estrus synchronization, injection/administration of hormones, and heat checking/estrus detection.
• Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace by following safe work practices and enforcing health and safety regulations.
• Adhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements.
