Job summary

The University of Washington is seeking an Animal Technician 1 to join the animal care team in Seattle. You will perform daily animal health checks, provide routine husbandry, and manage cagewash and facility sanitation while maintaining detailed records.

This role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle a range of laboratory animals in ABSL2 environments. Preferred candidates have a high school diploma and a valid Washington driver’s license, with the capacity to work Friday–Tuesday

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must have a current Washington driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform required work.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily animal health checks and housing duties; document findings.
• Maintain sanitation and cagewash operations; clean animal use areas.
• Monitor inventory and assist with supplies, equipment orders, and transport within the facility.
