Job summary

Altasciences in Sacramento, CA is hiring an Animal Care Technician I to support animal care, sanitation, and daily facility operations. You will handle animals, assist with cage wash, environmental tasks, and data entry while ensuring GLP compliance and welfare standards.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 0-1 year related experience, and willingness to participate in weekend/evening rotations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; BS/BA in a scientific discipline preferred.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, study documents, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, move, and maintain facility equipment and supplies.
• Perform sanitation and central cage wash activities; assist with in-life tasks.
• Care for animals (mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, swine, non-human primates) with empathy and proper handling.
• Operate and maintain equipment (cage washers, autoclave, cage movement).
• Record and report data with accuracy in accordance with SOPs/GLP.
• Support other departments with cage changes and necropsy logistics.
• Participate in weekend and evening rotations.
