Job summary

PEAK Genetics is seeking an Animal Care Technician, Bulls (Livestock Specialist) at our Calf Care facility in Shawano, WI. You will join a skilled team responsible for daily care, health, and collection of elite bulls, and for maintaining facilities and equipment.

Full-time role with benefits including health insurance, 401(k), PTO, wellness programs, and more. Must be comfortable with large animals, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and willing to follow company protocols.

Qualifications

• Comfortable working with large animals.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties.
• Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
• Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods.
• Willingness to learn and follow company protocols.
• Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field.
• Previous livestock handling experience.
• Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle.
• Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs.

Responsibilities

• Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production.
• Work in a system using established protocols.
• Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks.
• Operate company farm equipment and vehicles.
• Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment.

PEAK Genetics has an opportunity available to join our barn staff as an Animal Care Technician, Bulls (internally known as a Livestock Specialist) in our Calf Care facility in Shawano, WI. In this role, you will be a member of a highly skilled team supporting the daily care, health, and collection of our elite bulls. The team is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and equipment.
