Petland is seeking Animal Care Technicians who love animals and want to build a rewarding career in a fun environment. You will provide care for our puppies, meeting their nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs, and support daily kennel operations.

We offer training, a supportive team, and opportunities for advancement. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and good communication, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or 1–3 months related experience) preferred.
• Follow established company systems and procedures.
• Care for puppies including nutrition, behavior, environment, and maintenance.

Responsabilités

• Provide kenneling and daily care for puppies and kittens.
• Perform opening, daily, and closing kennel procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and complete cleaning checklists.
• Monitor health and keep accurate records for puppies/kittens.
• Assist veterinarian with examinations and medications as prescribed.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Animal Care Technicians provide care for puppy’s nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs.
• Performs opening, daily and closing procedures in the kennel.
• Completes procedural cleaning checklists to ensure maximum cleanliness and ensures cleanliness is maintained.
• Ensures the health of all puppies and kittens is monitored daily and assists in keeping proper records.
• Ensures proper pet nutrition, socialization, and cleaning is handled according to expectations.
• Assists dedicated store veterinarian with puppy and kitten examinations and provides care and medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Selected and properly trained “key holders” assist with the training and coaching of other, less experienced Animal Care Technicians.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Standing – Continually required to stand
• Walking – Continually required to walk
• Sitting - Occasionally required to sit
• Travelling – Occasionally required to travel
• Finger Dexterity - Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Climb, Bend, Balance, Stoop, Kneel or Crawl - Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Talking/Hearing - Continually required to talk or hear
• Visual Accuity - Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Lifting/Pushing/Carrying – Occasionally required to lift more than 50 lbs. at a time with frequent lifting, pushing, or carrying of up to 30 lbs.
