Petland Corporate Stores in Ashland, KY is seeking Animal Care Technicians who love animals and want to build a rewarding career. You will care for puppies, ensuring their nutrition, behavior, and daily needs are met, and you will follow established procedures to keep pets healthy and happy.

This role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and reliable communication. You will work openings and closeouts, assist in kennel maintenance, and support a store veterinarian as needed.

Responsabilités

• Provide care for puppies' nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs.
• Perform opening, daily and closing kennel procedures.
• Complete cleaning checklists to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Monitor health of puppies and kittens and keep proper records.
• Assist store veterinarian with examinations and medications as prescribed.
• Support training and coaching of other Animal Care Technicians as needed.
• Take on related duties as assigned by management.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Animal Care Technicians provide care for puppy’s nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs.
• Performs opening, daily and closing procedures in the kennel.
• Completes procedural cleaning checklists to ensure maximum cleanliness and ensures cleanliness is maintained.
• Ensures the health of all puppies and kittens is monitored daily and assists in keeping proper records.
• Ensures proper pet nutrition, socialization, and cleaning is handled according to expectations.
• Assists dedicated store veterinarian with puppy and kitten examinations and provides care and medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Selected and properly trained “key holders” assist with the training and coaching of other, less experienced Animal Care Technicians.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and/or Training:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Standing – Continually required to stand

• Travelling – Occasionally required to travel
• Finger Dexterity – Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Climb, Bend, Balance, Stoop, Kneel or Crawl – Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Talking/Hearing – Continually required to talk or hear
• Visual Accuity – Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Lifting/Pushing/Carrying – Occasionally required to lift more than 50 lbs. at a time with frequent lifting, pushing, or carrying of up to 30 lbs.
