Job summary

Attentive Science is seeking an Animal Care Laboratory Technician to support humane care and welfare of laboratory animals and perform routine husbandry tasks. The role encompasses feeding, cleaning, restraint and species identification, and data collection for studies.

We offer full-time Sunday-Thursday positions with additional part-time Sunday-Tuesday roles up to 25 hours weekly, with flexibility. Candidates should be able to meet deadlines and adapt to varying schedules and lab environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to work under specific time constraints to meet deadlines.
• Basic computer skills familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexibility with work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the humane care and treatment of all species within the care unit.
• Provide routine care including feeding, watering, and cage/room cleaning.
• Provide restraint and handling and perform species identification and randomization.
• Collect study data such as observations, food/water consumption, and body weight.
• Maintain support areas and supplies for laboratory resources.
• Provide facilities sanitation and maintenance.
• Maintain records in compliance with SOPs, USDA, FDA, and AAALAC guidelines.
• Assist with lab techniques such as oral and IV administrations.
• May participate or assist in studies as needed.
• Assist the clinical veterinarian in physical examination.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
