The Opportunity: Animal Care Attendant
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) has current openings for a part-time Animal Care Attendant. Animal Care Attendants provide for the general care and maintenance of shelter animals including feeding and kennel cleaning. Job training is provided.
You are an excellent candidate for this role if you enjoy being part of a team and you are motivated to work in support of others. Your diligence and good judgement will help to ensure the cleanliness of the shelter environment and the safety of the animals in our care. What We Offer
The pay rate for this position starts at $17.00 per hour and there is an additional $2.00 per hour paid for hours worked on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). This pay rate is the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s best estimate for this position and actual compensation will be based on factors including but not limited to the depth and extent of relevant experience. Additional compensation is available for qualified employees who can translate for our Spanish-speaking clientele.
The compensation package for full-time employees regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week includes:
Part-time employees regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible for earned sick leave, paid family and medical leave through FAMLI, EAP, retirement plan, and discounts on HSBV services.

Qualifications and Requirements
We prioritize applicants who have a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. It is preferred that Animal Care Attendants can perform basic computer skills in a Windows environment. Attendants must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance.A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required for all employment candidates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for polite, team-players with demonstrated initiative who are able to sustain working through a busy day standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and lifting while also working on more than one task at the same time. Knowledge of animal breeds, animal behavior, and pet training is helpful but not required.
