    Job Summary

    Start your research career today by becoming an Animal Care Attendant at UT Southwestern in our world-renowned medical and research center. The Animal Resource Center (ARC) is hiring for an entry-level animal care position that will help to provide care and maintenance of our laboratory animals and animal facilities. As a valued member of the ARC, you will have the opportunity to support the institutional care and use of animals in cutting edge research across hundreds of medical research labs at UT Southwestern. This position offers room for growth so that you can gain the skills you need to help you advance into your research career as part of an Animal Care or Research career track.

    Job Duties
    • Be part of a team responsible for the overall care of rare and unique animals that are vital in the award-winning, life-altering research conducted at UTSW
    • Maintains the overall cleanliness of the ARC
    • Operates, cleans, and maintains the cage wash start-up and shut-down procedures
    • Maintains equipment, reports equipment issues and maintains logbooks
    • Evaluates and prepares extra equipment and delivers sterile equipment
    • Recognizes equipment needs and rapidly processes appropriate equipment
    • Accurately requests, sorts, and organizes routine supplies to meet area needs
    • Operates, cleans, and maintains autoclave equipment
    • Maintains proper bedding levels in cages and accurately sorts bedding materials
    • Completes multiple loads of laundry to meet area needs
    • Provides supply requests in timely manner
    • Correctly applies appropriate techniques and chemicals to maintain and sterilize facility floors
    Experience and Education
    • No experience required
    • High School graduation or GED strongly preferred
