Job Description - Animal Care Attendant, Animal Resource Center (863444)

Job Summary

Works under constant supervision to provide care and maintenance of laboratory animals and animal facilities.

Job Duties

  1. Comply with and wear required personal protective equipment.
  2. Operate cage washing and processing equipment, perform start-up and shut-down procedures. Clean and monitor equipment, maintain logs, and report failures.
  3. Operate and maintain autoclave equipment, report failures, and deliver sterile equipment.
  4. Process animal caging, add bedding and enrichment, and inspect equipment for damage.
  5. Clean and maintain support areas and hallways, organize supplies, and request additional supplies as needed.
  6. Maintain facility floors through sweeping, mopping, and using floor machines.
  7. Follow safety procedures.
  8. Perform housekeeping and laundry duties, maintaining equipment cleanliness.
  9. Maintain attendance and adhere to work schedule, including weekend work as needed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
