Job summary

The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk, VA is seeking a full-time Animal Ambassador Specialist to join our Animal Ambassadors team. You will care for the animal ambassadors, train them, enrich their environments, and deliver engaging public presentations.

The position reports to the Curator - Animal Ambassadors and requires weekend and occasional evening hours as schedules vary. This is a non-exempt, full-time role at the zoo.

Qualifications

• Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide animal husbandry, training, enrichment and public presentations.
• Maintain daily records on animal ambassadors, health, behavior and feeding.
• Prepare diets and monitor nutrition for animal ambassadors.
