Description

The Technical Supervisor in Anesthesiology has responsibility for assuring that technical staff (aides and technicians) maintain and set up equipment, instruments and materials used in the department in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.


Responsibilities
  1. Ensures all anesthesia machines, monitors and equipment are cleaned and maintained following procedures established by Infection Control and JCAHO.
  2. Ensures all equipment is operating properly and assigns personnel to repair malfunctioning equipment.
  3. Coordinates with anesthesia supply and equipment personnel to ensure supplies and equipment are available for anesthetic procedures. Obtains supplies and equipment as requested by anesthesia provider(s).
  4. Maintains par levels of all supplies and is responsible for ordering supplies and stock medications.
  5. Acts as a resource for anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers and other health care team members by providing technical guidance and instruction as needed.
  6. Supervises staff and participates in various personnel duties including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, annual competencies, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions and terminations.
  7. Oversees installation of new equipment purchased for department and receives instructions in operation of equipment.
  8. Responds to Operating Room staff requests and assists in resolving problems concerning patients and equipment.
  9. Offers specific training programs to staff maintain or improve job on new equipment.
  10. Stays current with developments in area of expertise by reading current journals, books and magazine articles.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64256.72 - $80818 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
