Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist to provide pain relief and care during and after procedures, and to manage acute and cancer pain in a hospital setting. The physician will diagnose, treat, and coordinate care for patients with critical illnesses or severe injuries, including resuscitation when needed, and supervise post-anesthesia recovery.

Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and be licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is required.
• Licensed Medical Doctor in Pennsylvania is required.
• Clinical interview, diagnostic assessment, and treatment planning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms and medical history.
• Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
• Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.
• May prescribe or administer medications.
• Prepares, maintains, and reviews records of patients’ histories, examinations, treatment plans, or outcomes.
• Work is performed in a clinical and office environment and adheres to organizational policies.

Job Summary

Trained to provide pain relief and maintenance or restoration of a stable condition during and immediately following an operation or an obstetric or diagnostic procedure. Also provides medical management and consultation in pain management and critical care medicine. Anesthesiologists diagnose and treat acute, longstanding and cancer pain problems; diagnose and treat patients with critical illnesses or severe injuries; perform direct resuscitation in the care of patients with cardiac or respiratory emergencies, including the need for artificial ventilation; and supervise post anesthesia recovery.

Job Duties

Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed. Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients’ histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes. Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment.
