Job Description
The Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) is seeking a Staff Anesthesiologist Physician to serve as our Nation's Heroes at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK. Our ideal candidate will enjoy a busy, clinical practice and be board certified or eligible in General Anesthesiology.
The Staff Physician may have teaching opportunities due to our association with Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OSUCOM) and the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine (OUCOM). Qualified applicants will have an MD/DO, a current medical license, and be board-certified or eligible in Anesthesiology.
The Staff Anesthesiologist is a core member of the Surgery department, covering general surgery, orthopedics, knee and shoulder arthroplasty, ophthalmology, and urology. Vascular cases are included. This role does not involve heart, neurology, or trauma cases. The position involves working with a strong team of CRNAs, with approximately 90% supervision and 10% performing cases independently.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with backup call from home, aiming for Q3. In 2023, the anesthesiologist has not been called to the hospital while on backup call.

Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the VHA Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which allows VHA to buy out service contracts such as locum agreements, loan repayments, or sign-on bonuses in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum of 4 years of obligated service.
