Job summary

Down East Community is seeking an experienced Anesthesiologist to provide comprehensive anesthesia services in a hospital setting. The role includes anesthesia consultations for inpatients and outpatients, and occasional clinical education for staff.

$550k annual salary, 150k sign on bonus with 3 year commitment, 25k housing allowance, loan reimbursement annually

Job Summary And Scope

Anesthesiologist shall provide services in the practice of Anesthesiology within the policies of the Hospital and with consultation and agreement of the surgeon involved with the care of the patient.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide high quality Anesthesiology services within the Hospital
• Provide anesthesia consultation to inpatients and outpatients
• Provide occasional clinical education to members of the hospital staff
• Operate at all times within federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations
• Follow policies, rules and regulations of the Hospital
• Work within applicable standards of the American Society of Anesthesiologists
• Participate in committees and required meetings and undertake the responsibilities of the member of the Medical Staff
• Provide exceptional patient care
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands
• Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
• Other duties that are relevant to the position and department

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Licensed in the State of Maine in the practice of Anesthesiology
• Maintain membership on the Medical Staff at DECH and CCH
• Maintain current federal DEA number
• 10 or more years experience providing anesthesia in acute care setting
• Skill and experience with full range of anesthesia methods

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENT

Clinical: Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds independently. Frequently pushes/pulls 100 pounds using mechanical and other assistive devices. Walks, stands, kneels, bends most of the time. Exhibits fine motor skills and manual dexterity necessary to perform the essential job functions of the position. Visual acuity correctable to 20/20. Color vision is necessary. Normal hearing acuity.

Exposure Category I: Employee at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

• Maintains current knowledge of the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program.
• Collaborates with management to improve the effectiveness of the department through the Quality Improvement plans and processes.
• Participates in the departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement activities as directed by the manager.

• Adheres to the federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
• Adheres to the Compliance Program policies and procedures of Down East Community.
