Job Description

Responsible for assisting the anesthesia care provider with preparing and using equipment, providing supplies and medications during the administration of anesthesia. Assists with special procedures and provides support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases and emergency events. Performs under the general supervision of the licensed anesthesia care provider designated by the client facility and reports to the facility Nurse Manager.

Hours will vary according to surgical schedule, facility hours of operation, and coverage for the full-time anesthesia technician.
Work Location - Ambulatory Surgery Center, Rockaway, NJ

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider.
2. Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks, and maintains routine anesthesia equipment.
3. Maintains anesthesia medications, supplies, and equipment according to needs and schedules.
4. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia, considering age-specific needs of patient groups.
5. Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defects or malfunctions promptly.
6. Maintains departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
7. Documents and maintains records of preventative maintenance and quality assurance.
8. Assists with patient transportation, materials management, collection of reprocessed devices, receiving supplies, and inventory counts.
9. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings as needed.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma
• At least 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or in a relevant area.

Preferred:

• Anesthesia Technician certification.
• Basic Life Support certification.
