Job description

Anesthesia Technician / Orderly - Main OR (Per Diem)

Primary Function

Responsible for transporting patients, specimens, and equipment (including maintaining equipment and supplies). Provide anesthesia support throughout surgical services including but not limited to: Main OR, ASC OR, and Labor and Delivery. Work under the direct supervision of Nursing and Anesthesia Departments. Observe all hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Transport patients between different hospital units, including Pre-Op, OR, and PACU.
  2. Clean and change lines on stretchers and beds prior to patient use between procedures using proper asepsis technique. Thoroughly clean anesthesia gas machines and ventilators. Ensure all gas machines and specialty carts are surface cleaned.
  3. Deliver specimens and blood products to and from the laboratory as needed.
  4. Check and change oxygen, carbon dioxide tanks, and other gases regularly.
  5. Assist with room turnover: mop floors, remove trash, clean furniture, and change anesthesia circuits.
  6. Gather equipment and case carts for the next case. Distribute anesthesia supplies and equipment.
  7. Assist with setting up OR rooms for the next case, including preparing airway equipment and providing special equipment before, during, and after procedures.
  8. Assist nursing and anesthesia personnel with patient activities such as positioning, turning, and restraining.
  9. Perform pre-surgery shave preps.
  10. Restock supplies and warming cabinets. Ensure proper stock levels, organization, and labeling.
  11. Comply with customer service requirements.
  12. Inspect anesthetizing locations to ensure all designated equipment is present at the start of each shift, including specialty carts and trays.
  13. Check the condition of equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter probes, temperature cables, and pressure infusers.
  14. Perform daily battery checks on battery-operated equipment.
  15. Ensure reusable equipment like LMAs, blades, and handles are properly sterilized.
  16. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications

A High School diploma is required. CPR certification is mandatory. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and dependable.
