Job summary

UC San Diego Health in Hillcrest is seeking an Anesthesia Technician (Tech I/II) to support the operating room team under supervision, assisting with airway management, patient monitoring, and placement of invasive lines.

The role involves routine maintenance and safety checks of anesthesia equipment, training new staff, and performing duties aligned with the Tech I/II level; shifts include days across various locations and eligibility for a 100% appointment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date
• One year experience working as Anesthesia Technician or in Anesthesia Department (Tech I)
• One year experience as anesthesia technician with ASATT competency (Tech II)
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and principles of anesthesia technology
• Independent judgment skills for rapid response in patient care
• Proficient in equipment acquisition, preparation, and troubleshooting for anesthesia care

Responsibilities

• Support the surgical patient and OR team by performing standard anesthesia-related activities.
• Assist with airway management, physiological monitoring, and invasive line placement.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks of anesthesia equipment; troubleshoot and disinfect as needed.
• Precepts, assists, and trains new Anesthesia Monitoring staff.
• Duties may vary; role classified as Tech I or Tech II based on experience.
