Job summary

Penn State Health–Hershey Medical Center is seeking an Anesthesia Technologist to prepare instruments, equipment and supplies for anesthetic procedures. You will assist the Anesthesiologist/CRNA with invasive monitoring setup and patient transportation in a busy surgical environment.

Responsibilities include ensuring readiness of monitors, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting a cohesive anesthesia team to deliver safe and efficient care for patients across the perioperative continuum.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of advanced procedure-based patient care with medical equipment experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic mathematics skills required.
  • Leadership and customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 500 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk 100% of the workday.
  • Must pass a written and skills demonstration (hands on) test with a minimum score of 80%.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible to prepare appropriate instruments, equipment and supplies for the administration of each type of anesthetic procedure. Assist the Anesthesiologist/CRNA in the insertion of invasive monitoring such as arterial lines, CVP, swan/ganz and ICP, induction and transportation of monitored/high-risk patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of advanced procedure based patient care along with technical experience and/or background with medical equipment required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic mathematics skills required.
  • Leadership and customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 500 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk 100% of the workday.
  • Must pass a written and skills demonstration (hands on) test with a minimum score of 80%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPR certification and ACLS candidate preferred.
