Job summary

Socket.dev in Houston, TX is seeking an Anesthesia Technician II with specialized experience to support anesthesia providers and the interdisciplinary team. This role covers all anesthetizing locations, manages supplies, and troubleshoots equipment, working independently as needed.

You will mentor other anesthesia techs, assist with induction, airway management, IVs, and equipment maintenance, and ensure sterile, organized supplies and readiness for procedures across OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, and CV

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required.
  • CER-A-T credential from ASATT or ASATT-approved anesthesia tech program is required.
  • Anesthesia technician training program approved by ASATT is required (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 5 years as an anesthesia technician may substitute for Cer-A-T.
  • Minimum 3 years of anesthesia technologist experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or assists with procedures.
  • Assists anesthesiologist with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors.
  • Assists with induction by connecting patient to monitors.
  • Assists with intubation.
  • Maintains patient airway.
  • Inserts IVs and other invasive lines as needed.
  • Prepares and sets up anesthesia equipment.
  • Prepares age-appropriate equipment and monitors.
  • Conducts other patient-related procedures.
  • Supervises maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
  • Inventories and stocks anesthesia supplies.
  • Keeps inventory of functioning anesthesia equipment and tracks repairs.
  • Organizes and cleans shelves and drawers for anesthesia supplies.
  • Retrieves equipment and inspects for problems.
  • Maintains sterile supplies within expiration date.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
CER-A-T (ASATT)
ASATT-approved anesthesia technician training program
5 years anesthesia technician experience in lieu of Cer-A-T
3 years anesthesia technologist experience

Job description

We are searching for an Anesthesia Technician II - The Anesthesia Tech II has specialized experience as an Anesthesia Technician, and who is able to provide support to the Anesthesia providers and other members of the interdisciplinary team. This position is fully competent regarding anesthesia in all anesthetizing locations, supplies, and other related equipment. The Anesthesia Tech II works independently and demonstrates the clinical skills necessary for assisting with anesthesia-related procedures; troubleshooting of equipment- regardless of anesthetizing location (IE: OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, CV). This position serves as a Mentor to Anesthesia techs by utilizing skills and knowledge by helping to train and orient others.

  • Organizes, cleans and neatly maintains all shelves and drawers where anesthesia supplies are kept.
  • Retrieves equipment and inspects for problems.
  • Maintains sterile supplies within expiration date.
Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association
  • CER-A-T (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) __OR__
  • Associate's Degree - Completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians) (ASATT) __OR__
  • 5 years’ experience as an Anesthesia Technician will be accepted in lieu of the Cer-A-T Technical Diploma - Completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved
  • Required 3 years Anesthesia technologists experience
