Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, seeks an Anesthesia Technician I to provide technical and clinical support to anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists across multiple surgical settings.

The role includes equipment prep, patient handling, airway management, and assisting with routine and emergency cases under supervision. Relevant hospital experience and BLS are required; CNA is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Previous hospital or healthcare experience preferred.
  • NA-I/II preferred license/role mentioned.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize anesthesia equipment and supplies by reviewing surgery schedules.
  • Set up and maintain anesthesia carts and equipment.
  • Assist with transfers, positioning, and applying monitoring devices.
  • Respond quickly and confidently in emergencies.
  • Maintain infection prevention and safety practices.
  • Protect patient privacy and advocate for patient rights.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Role Summary: Provides technical and clinical support to licensed Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists in various clinical settings including the Operating Rooms, Pre-operative areas, Post Anesthesia Care units, and Procedural areas (Endoscopy, Interventional and/or Diagnostic radiology), Ambulatory Surgery sites, Dental suites, and on the hospital units in the event of emergency. The Anesthesia Technician will assist with duties such as transportation, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management, within the anesthesia technician scope of practice and under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and/or registered nurse. The Anesthesia Technician will provide support for routine and/or emergency surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician will assist by taking call as assigned.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Preparing and organizing anesthesia equipment and supplies by reviewing surgery schedules and planning for what the team will need
  • Setting up, transporting, and maintaining anesthesia carts and equipment to keep all supplies clean and ready for safe use
  • Helping patients by assisting with transfers, positioning, preparation, and applying non-invasive monitoring devices
  • Acting quickly and confidently if an emergency happens
  • Keeping the environment clean and safe by following infection prevention and safety practices
  • Speaking openly with patients, families, and your team, always protecting patient privacy and advocating for patient rights
What qualifications you will need
  • Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Current listing with Division of Facility Services as NA-I or II.
  • Required License: BLS
  • Preferred License: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Required Experience: Previous hospital or healthcare experience.
  • Preferred Experience: 1 year OR experience and/or Anesthesia Support role.
