Job Description

Responsible for assisting the anesthesia care provider with preparing and using equipment, providing supplies and medications during the administration of anesthesia. Assists with special procedures and provides support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases. Performs under the general supervision of the licensed anesthesia care provider designated by the client facility.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider.
  2. Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks, and maintains routine anesthesia equipment.
  3. Maintains anesthesia medications, supplies, and equipment according to the needs and schedules.
  4. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia, considering age-specific needs of various patient groups.
  5. Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defects or malfunctions appropriately and immediately.
  6. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  7. Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
  8. Assists with transportation of patients and laboratory specimens as necessary.
  9. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds/meetings as needed.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or in a relevant area.

Preferred:

  • Anesthesia Technician certification.

AHA-BLS within 60 days of hire.
