Job summary

Shannon Medical Center is seeking an Anesthesia Aide for a part-time shift from 6:30am to 11:30am, Monday through Friday. Under licensed supervision, you will assist the anesthesiologist during the preoperative period and help maintain a safe environment by following standards of care.

You will prepare equipment for procedures, monitor supplies, and communicate needs to the Schedule Coordinator. The role requires attention to detail, accountability, and adherence to Shannon Health policies.

Qualifications

• Provides anesthesia assistance under supervision.
• Sets up and maintains anesthesia equipment for procedures.
• Adheres to patient confidentiality and Shannon Health policies.

Responsibilities

• Assists with general or regional anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist and prepares equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assesses supplies and equipment needs; notifies Schedule Coordinator or Unit Manager of problems; maintains equipment.
• Must obtain certification/clearance within 90 days of start date.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of licensed personnel, provides assistance to the Anesthesiologist during the preoperative period according to the Shannon Medical Center Standards of Care, policies and procedures. The Anesthesia Aide has both team member and patient care responsibilities that require judgments, accountability and follow through. Within these responsibilities, accepting delegation, communicating effectively and confidentiality, recording accurate information, demonstrating flexibility and maintaining a safe environment by completing unit related services are critical to issues in this position.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions

• Assists with General anesthesia, Regional anesthesia or other invasive procedures as directed by the anesthesiologist; demonstrates knowledge of normal drug dosages, actions and interactions with other drugs, side effects and routes of administration; checks schedule and sets up appropriate equipment for surgical procedures; maintains anesthesia equipment in good working order.
• Assesses anesthesia needs regarding supplies and equipment and provides input into budget preparation; notifies Schedule Coordinator or Unit Manager of any problems with equipment or availability of supplies; cleans and processes laryngoscope blades, LMAs and flexible endoscopes.
• Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
