Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia team and surgical staff. You will help ensure equipment is ready and assist with patient care throughout the surgical journey.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and prior OR or hospital experience is preferred. Comprehensive benefits and retirement resources are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Nursing assistant training or 6 months nursing assistant experience preferred.
• Previous OR/hospital experience preferred.
• BLS healthcare provider certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize anesthesia equipment and supplies per surgery schedules.
• Set up, transport, and maintain anesthesia carts and equipment.
• Assist patients with transfers, positioning, preparation, and monitoring devices.
• Act quickly and confidently in case of an emergency.
• Maintain clean and safe environment following infection prevention practices.
• Communicate with patients and families while protecting privacy.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Nursing assistant training

Experience as nursing assistant (6 months)

Experience in operating room or hospital setting

BLS Certification (AHA/ARC Health Care Provider)

Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will work closely with the anesthesia team and surgical staff to help every procedure go safely and smoothly. You will play a key role in keeping equipment ready, supporting patient care, and helping create a safe, comfortable environment throughout the surgical journey.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and organizing anesthesia equipment and supplies by reviewing surgery schedules and planning for what the team will need


• Setting up, transporting, and maintaining anesthesia carts and equipment to keep all supplies clean and ready for safe use


• Helping patients by assisting with transfers, positioning, preparation, and applying non-invasive monitoring devices


• Acting quickly and confidently if an emergency happens


• Keeping the environment clean and safe by following infection prevention and safety practices


• Speaking openly with patients, families, and your team, always protecting patient privacy and advocating for patient rights

What qualifications you will need:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.


• Nursing assistant training or 6 months experience as a nursing assistant preferred.


• Previous experience in an operating room or hospital setting preferred.


• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider required.
