Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an Anesthesia Technician at Bell Hospital to support the anesthesia team and OR staff. Under the Anesthesia Technician Manager, you will participate in patient care and assist surgeons, anesthesiologists and perfusionists as directed.

You will monitor physiological parameters, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, help maintain supply inventory, and adhere to infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred Associate of Science; 1+ years anesthesia technician or perioperative experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists anesthesiologist, perfusionist and OR staff in patient care as ordered.
  • Performs monitoring, device setup and troubleshooting of physiological parameters.
  • Maintains inventory levels and cost-effective supply management.

In this support role the Technician will assist the anesthesiologist, perfusionist and OR staff members in patient care and support as ordered and prescribed by the attending surgeon, anesthesiologist or perfusionist.Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsPerforms procedures, recording, analyzing and diagnosing various physiological monitoring functions, with the variety of devices, equipment or techniques.Facilitates processes to maintain successful inventory levels and cost-effective practice of supply management by team members; including supportive strategies for cost-containmentDemonstrates abilities and competencies in performing procedures, recording, analyzing and diagnosing various physiological monitoring functions, with the following devices, equipment or techniques:Invasive monitoring devices; calibrate and troubleshootArterial line setupPA catheters setup and assistCardiac Output monitors setup and assistECG, attach and troubleshootPOC testingAutologous Blood Recovery SystemDirectional DopplerOther equipment relevant to positionMaintain Procedural DatabaseFollow Infection Control Guidelines for maintaining, clean and use of non-disposable equipment and maintain timely changes of indwelling catheters and lines.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
