Job summary

Rochester General Hospital seeks an Anesthesia Tech to ensure the accuracy and readiness of anesthesia equipment and supplies. You will support daily operations in the OR, manage inventory, and assist with procedures under supervision.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to handle high-risk medications, and participation in on-call shift coverage. 20 hours per week, typically 6:00 am–5:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with weekend on-call as needed.

• Maintains Ideal Working Operations: Contribute to inventory management and monthly inspections of supplies and related areas.

Weekend on-call requirement.SUMMARY:As an Anesthesia Tech, your excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality control helps you to manage anesthesia equipment and supplies, while assisting with daily functions of the Anesthesia Department.RESPONSIBILITIES:Equipment Management. Maintain all anesthesia equipment; manage quality control by recognizing malfunctioning equipment and taking necessary action; perform minor equipment repairs and preventive maintenanceProcedure Assistance. Prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies for use; calibrate and check equipment accurately before each use; assist with procedures as assigned; stock anesthesia carts with extremely high-risk medications (may handle meds, sharps and syringes); maintain a clean, safe and adequately supplied workroomMaintains Ideal Working Operations. Contribute to maintenance of supply inventory, ensure there are adequate levels of available supplies and complete monthly pharmacy inspections.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:None.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:H.S. diploma preferredPrevious anesthesia experience preferredEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Heavy - Clinical - Heavy clinical roles require continual lifting of more than 50 lbs., pushing and pulling patients or equipment, and working in physically awkward or restrictive positions. Staff must maintain balance and coordination in confined, uneven, or emergent care settings while performing both fine and gross motor tasks. High sensory acuity is needed to recognize patient cues and environmental alerts. Emotional and cognitive demands are significant due to urgent decision-making, managing distressed patients, and functioning effectively in high-pressure clinical situations. Environmental exposures commonly include infectious agents, biohazards, noise, and chemicals.
