Job summary

San Diego Fertility Center is seeking an Andrology and Endocrine Technician to perform semen analysis, sperm thawing, IUI preps, and operate the hormone assay machine within our fertility practice. The role is full-time, covering Del Mar and Mission Valley locations with variable daily site assignments and weekend/holiday rotation.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma; a bachelor’s degree in sciences is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in sciences preferred.
• Lab experience in a clinical or research setting is desirable.
• IVF, healthcare, or women’s health exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs semen analysis, semen freezing, and IUI prep; thaw specimens for IUI.
• Manages daily startup and operation of endocrine assay instruments.
• Ensures safe handling of specimens following laboratory safety guidelines.
• Maintains laboratory equipment calibrations and adheres to quality standards.
• Sets up, calibrates, and cleans lab equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy.
• Interfaces with physicians, patients, and the laboratory team.

Salary Range: $23.00 - $30.00 Hourly

San Diego Fertility Center is an elite fertility practice that shares a commitment to exceptional clinical outcomes and the best patient experience. This position is full time, covering two locations, Del Mar and Mission Valley. The daily location will be dictated by volume and the need for an additional person to help at those particular sites. This role also includes weekend and holiday rotation.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who would like to build or continue their career helping patients achieve their goals of growing their families. The Andrology and Endocrine Technician is responsible for performing semen analysis, sperm thawing, IUI preps, and operation of the hormone assay machine within our fertility practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs semen analysis, semen freezing, and IUI preps. Thaw sperm specimens for IUI.
• Manages the daily start-up of the endocrine assay instruments and operates the hormone assay machine.
• Ensure safe handling of specimens by following the safety guidelines of the laboratory.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and calibrations and adhere to quality standards.
• Sets up, calibrates, and cleans laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy.
• Interfaces with our team of Physicians, patients, and fellow laboratory team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma required, and bachelor’s degree in sciences is preferred.
• Experience in a laboratory environment is desired.
• Relevant previous andrology / endocrine experience is a plus.
• Previous healthcare, IVF, or Women’s Health experience is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must have a strong attention to detail with solid interpersonal skills.
• Possess clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Drive for knowledge and ongoing desire to learn (we enjoy teaching and training new graduates and introducing them to our wonderful field)!
• Or a post “retirement” position to stay active in a laboratory setting.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing while loading the hormone analyzer.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time (rarely).
