Job summary

Randstad Technologies is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Core Experience team as a contractor. You will design, develop, and maintain Android features that support messaging and social experiences, working with product, design, backend, and other partners to deliver high-quality functionality from planning to release and ongoing improvement.

The role is remote and offered on an Inside IR35 contract basis.

Responsibilities

• Review code, promote engineering standards, and help optimize architecture, testing, observability, and performance.
• Mentor colleagues through feedback and knowledge sharing, with cross-team coordination.

About The Role

Randstad Technologies is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Core Experience team as a contractor. In this hands‑on role, you will design, develop, and maintain Android features that support messaging and social experiences. You will work closely with product, design, backend, and other engineering partners to deliver high‑quality features from technical planning through release and ongoing improvement.

This position is remote and offered on an Inside IR35 contract basis. While the role does not involve direct people management, you will provide technical leadership through cross‑team project coordination, engineering guidance, and mentoring. You will help teams make sound technical decisions, communicate dependencies, and deliver work effectively. The successful engineer will bring strong Android expertise, a collaborative approach, and a thoughtful perspective on building secure, privacy‑conscious products.

Qualifications

Applicants should have at least eight years of professional experience developing Android applications, with advanced skills in Kotlin and the Android platform. You should be comfortable designing maintainable application architecture, investigating complex defects, and improving application quality and performance. Experience with real‑time synchronization and API performance is essential, including the ability to identify bottlenecks and work with partner teams on practical solutions.

Familiarity with agentic development tools such as Cursor or Claude is expected, along with sound judgment about how to use these tools responsibly within an engineering workflow. You should be able to explain technical decisions clearly, collaborate constructively across teams, and contribute to a team‑first culture. A strong understanding of privacy‑by‑design and safety‑conscious product development is important. Experience with C++ or iOS development is an advantage, but is not required.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, release, and maintain Android features for in‑app messaging and social platform experiences using Kotlin and relevant Android technologies. Work with product and design partners to translate user and business needs into clear technical plans. Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to implement real‑time synchronization, integrate APIs, and improve responsiveness and reliability.

Review code, promote engineering standards, and help identify opportunities to improve architecture, testing, observability, and performance. Investigate production issues and contribute to timely, lasting resolutions. Lead technical coordination for cross‑team projects by clarifying dependencies, sharing progress, and helping teams address risks. Mentor colleagues through thoughtful feedback and knowledge sharing, without direct line‑management responsibility. Incorporate privacy and safety considerations into technical discussions and implementation choices.
