Job summary

Esri is seeking a Software Developer II to join the Field Apps team in Portland, ME, building next‑generation Android apps. You’ll work with a cross‑functional team to design, implement and optimize mobile experiences for real‑world field workflows, including offline capability, GPS, and mapping features.

With relocation assistance to Portland, ME, you’ll contribute to high‑performing apps, participate in design reviews, and help elevate Android development across the company.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Android-focused experience with Kotlin and the Android platform.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with performance optimization and caching in mobile apps.
• Ability to participate in design and code reviews and follow best practices.

Responsibilities

• Build Android apps from architecture to design (ICS and up).
• Collaborate with developers and designers throughout the process.
• Translate user requirements into practical mobile solutions for field mapping and data collection.
• Develop software for field mapping, sensor networks, and navigation use cases.
• Solve complex problems with design, development, and UX.
• Advocate for Android and help grow Android capability across Esri.
