About The Role

We are seeking a passionate Android Developer to join our dynamic team at GrabJobs. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mobile applications on the Android platform. Your expertise will contribute to creating high-performance, user-friendly apps that meet the needs of our diverse user base. You will work closely with product owners, UX/UI designers, backend developers, and QA teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance user experience and functionality. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the United States, with the opportunity for relocation if desired. The role is available on a contract, contract-to-hire, or full-time basis, providing a versatile environment for talented Android developers to thrive.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of hands-on Android development experience, demonstrating a strong proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Java. A solid understanding of Android Jetpack components such as ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, Room, and WorkManager is essential. Experience with REST APIs, JSON parsing, and XML-based UI layouts is required. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and a good grasp of problem-solving and communication skills are also necessary. Candidates should be self-motivated, quick learners, and comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments. Preferred qualifications include experience with MVVM architecture, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, unit and UI testing frameworks like JUnit and Espresso, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or CircleCI. Knowledge of agile workflows and a proactive attitude towards staying updated on Android trends and best practices will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain robust Android applications using Kotlin, ensuring code quality and performance standards are met. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including UX/UI designers, backend developers, QA testers, and product managers to deliver seamless user experiences. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while adhering to SDLC standards and documentation practices. Contribute to architectural decisions and participate in feature planning to ensure scalable and efficient application development. Implement responsive UI designs based on mockups and wireframes, ensuring consistency across devices and screen sizes. Debug and resolve issues promptly, optimize app performance, and ensure smooth integration with REST APIs and third-party SDKs. Support the deployment process to the Google Play Store and assist with ongoing app maintenance and updates. Stay informed about the latest Android development trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and performance of our applications.
