Job description

Aquent Studios is looking for an Android App Developer to work on apps at one of its top client in the manufacturing/technology space. In this role, you will be the technical lead and sole developer for mobile applications used by drone pilots to plan and execute drone flights for scouting agricultural fields.

NOTE: Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the future, for this position.

NOTE: This is a hybrid role, working in our client's location in St. Paul, MN, at least three days per week.

NOTE: W2 only, no C2C.

Job Details:

• Primary responsibility (75%): lead design and development of a new Android mobile application for drone pilots.
• Secondary responsibility (25%): will be owning and maintaining the client's existing iOS application for drone pilots.
• Collaborate with the client's Product Management and UX teams to develop a deep understanding of customer problems including participation in customer calls and in-person customer visits, covering both internal customers and external customers.
• 25% travel required

Required skills:

• 6+ years of React, JavaScript
• 2+ years of hands-on Android development experience
• Passion for exploring, embracing, and executing software development with entirely new processes emerging in the age of AI. A willingness to confront the discomfort of leaving old processes behind, while simultaneously striving for quality architectures and maintainable source code.

Nice to have experience:

• Geospatial data processing and visualization: presenting geographically-located data on a map, basemaps, vector data, raster data, GeoJSON, ESRI Shapefiles, Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFS (COGs), rasterio, or geopandas.
• Drone flight applications
• Precision agriculture and digital agronomy
• C# .NET and/or Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
• Prior web application experience

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, a related technical field, or equivalent experience in a related career field.
