As an Anchor/MMJ, you’ll build a vital connection between a story and your audience. From pitching stories to delivering engaging newscasts, your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of reporting and anchoring. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, accurate, character-driven content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Television news anchoring - 3+ years, Television news reporting - 5+ years
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience
  • Language: Write and speak English and Spanish fluently
  • Technical Skills: Video editing, still photography, social media marketing
  • Skills: Reporting and anchoring
  • Abilities: Managing multiple priorities effectively, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
  • Travel Ability: Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
  • Schedule: Work different shifts or longer shifts due to 'breaking news' and severe weather emergencies and able to work weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a 24-hour news channel
  • National news experience preferred

Working Conditions

  • Works inside in a climate-controlled environment but may be assigned to field duties and be subjected to various weather conditions that could include extreme heat or cold conditions.

A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $90,000.00 and $130,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
